Bassetlaw Hospice – Receptionist

Bassetlaw Hospice is seeking a warm, organised, and confident Receptionist to join our team. The role includes reception duties, administrative support for the clinical team, handling clinical notes, using SystmOne, and contributing to digital communications including social media and website updates.

Reports to: Non- Clinical Team leader

Location: Bassetlaw Hospice, Retford

Hours: Full time or part time

Salary: Competitive dependent on experience. Meets national minimum wage

Job Purpose

To provide a warm, professional, and efficient reception service, supporting patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and clinical staff. The role includes administrative support for the clinical team, including the use of SystmOne, handling clinical notes, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. The postholder will also support hospice communications by creating and posting social media content and updating the website and other digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

 

Reception Duties

  • Provide a friendly, welcoming front-of-house service.
  • Answer calls professionally, direct queries appropriately, and take accurate messages.
  • Manage visitor processes and maintain a tidy reception and surrounding area.
  • Accept donations brought to site – monetary and items.
  • Support bereaved visitors/ families when attending the hospice to visit deceased patients or remember loved ones.

Administrative Support for the Clinical Team

  • Assist with preparing documents, scanning, photocopying, and filing and other clerical tasks as required by the clinical team.
  • Handle clinical notes with confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Input and update information on SystmOne, manage ledgers/ visits as required and register patients onto the system.
  • Support coordination of appointments and communications.
  • Maintain supplies of clinical and administrative materials in conjunction with team.

Communications, Social Media & Website Support

  • Create social media content aligned with hospice messaging.
  • Schedule posts across platforms.
  • Update website content such as news and events.
  • Work with teams to gather stories and information for digital use.
