Patient and Family Feedback

Patients' feedback provides valuable information about what patients and their families think about the services offered here at Bassetlaw hospice. The best way to understand the patient experience is from patients and their families themselves. Below is some of the feedback we have received;

My daughter came with me and my husband to have a look around the hospice , I must admit

I really didn’t want to go!  I don’t know what I thought it would be like  ... but I was surprised by the whole feel of the hospice I was instantly put at ease .

I soon settled into coffee mornings on a Friday my husband comes along with me ,the support we both receive there is no words! I soon started therapy sessions with Sandra ( she is amazing ) I then started coming on a  Wednesday too . The support from all staff and health care assistants  have helped me out of the dark hole I had slipped into since my diagnosis they have even supported my husband with how he is feeling .I have made friends and I now look forward to my days and coffee mornings here. I don’t know where I would be without the hospice and staff you have been and are mine and Tony’s lifesaver ..

Pat Bradley.

To All Staff, Just to say a huge thank you to everyone for taking the time to take care of my husband and helping him to keep his dignity throughout, he could not have ended his days in a better place. Also the care and concern you showed towards our daughter and myself. Where would we be as a country if there were no devoted carers and nurses like yourselves. Thank you so much.

To all at Bassetlaw Hospice, I can't thank you enough for the kindness shown to both myself and Lindsay during this time at the hospice. The care you offered was exemplary and will be remembered for a long time. Words cannot express my heartfelt thanks. Thank you. Tessa Webb.

Lydia is such an amazing person. The care, respect and love she showed myself and my family when my Mum was sadly at her end of life was incredible. I honestly can't thank herself and the team enough for everything they did to help get us through the most awful time. Definitely made it that little bit easier. Thank you

To all the wonderful staff at Bassetlaw Hospice, My family and I would like to thank you all for all the support shown to us during Dad's very short illness, we will never forget your kindness & how amazing you all were to Dad. Massive thank you to James, you helped us so much with your kind words & the care you shown to dad will always be remembered. Lots of Love.

"Words Cannot express the gratitude I feel towards the nurses and staff who cared for my husband with such care and compassion in the last few days of this life. Their support and kindness shown to me over these terribly sad days was second to none. From the nursing staff to the catering team. What a wonderful ob you all do, how amazing you are. Thank you seems totally inadequate but thank you so much."

"Jayne died at Bassetlaw Hospice in Retford where she was cared for in the last weeks of her life. Jayne had battled cancer for eight months, during which she endured numerous traumatic admissions via A&E to local hospitals that just weren’t geared up to give her the care she so much needed. At Bassetlaw Hospice Jayne received the most unbelievable care from the amazing team there, and felt safe and cared for in her final weeks."

"Thank you for the strength and support that you gave to M and me throughout the last 14 months or so. I don't think that we could have managed without you and the Hospice staff behind us. To say that the work that you do is just a job would be a gross insult. You touch people's lives and it takes a certain kind of person to be all things - honest adviser, counsellor, medicater, nurse, entertainer, friend and caring listener. You were all these things to M."

"Thank you so much for your care and attention in the last weeks for my husband. It has been a great comfort knowing he has been looked after so well. You all do an Amazing Job. Thank you very much."
