Without the dedication and support of our volunteers, we would not be able to operate the service. There are a number of opportunities for volunteering with the charity, details are given below.
Day Care at the Hospice
- Befriending patients and their families
- Serving drinks and meals
- Walking with patients in the gardens
Volunteers usually attend one day per week, Monday to Friday, from 9.30am to 3pm.
Volunteer Drivers
- Drivers collect and return home patients attending Day Care
- Volunteers must have a four door car with full comprehensive insurance
- A mileage allowance is paid
Volunteers need to be available from 9am to 10.30am and from 2.30pm to 4pm Monday to Friday. (Drivers can be select the days they wish to volunteer)
Reception Volunteers
- Volunteers welcome and assist patients and visitors to the Hospice
- Answering the telephone
- Record and direct the incoming and outgoing post
- Pay and record petty cash payments
- Assist with photo-copying and other duties
Volunteers attend once a week from 9.30am to 1pm and from 1pm to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
Weekend Volunteers
- Volunteers welcome and assist visitors to the Hospice
- Answer the telephone
- Help with followers etc
- Serve teas to the visitors
Volunteers usually attend once or twice per month Saturday or Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. This is an ideal role for those who are at work or study in the week.
Fund Raising Volunteers
There are a variety of roles available to help raise funds for the work of the Charity.
These include:
- Volunteering in the Shops, receiving, sorting, displaying and selling the donated stock
- Serving drinks and light refreshments in the Tea Bar located in Retford Hospital
- Assisting with our fund raising activities, these include:
- Selling raffle tickets
- Baking Cakes
- Helping with supermarket collections/bag packing
- Manning a stall at an event
- Serving refreshments
- Assisting at our organized events
