    Tea and a chat!

Bassetlaw Hospice, in partnership with Bassetlaw Community Health, have recently launched three new support services based in the centre of Worksop* aimed at offering advice and support to:

  • Informal carers of patients with long term conditions or cancer,
  • Those living with a diagnosis of cancer or a long term condition (survivors)
  • Those recently bereaved

Drop in sessions are now available, run by experienced nurses with support from a team of dedicated volunteers to listen and offer guidance and information and directing when necessary to other appropriate professionals and support services. Carers, cancer survivors and the bereaved, have an opportunity to meet others in perhaps a similar situation to themselves, in pleasant surroundings over light refreshments.

Carer Support

Gill Bradley, Senior Nurse explains “Many people act as a carer for someone with highly complex needs due to their illness and although it can be very a very rewarding experience, for many it can be physically hard and emotionally draining. Caring for someone affects many aspects of a carer’s life, their finances, employment, social life and personal time. We recognise this and are pleased that we now can provide a much needed service, giving personalised support and guidance and an opportunity to meet professional care providers and other carers”.

Sessions run every Friday afternoon, 1pm to 3pm, at The New Library, Worksop

Cancer Survivors

Those living with a cancer diagnosis or long term condition (cancer survivor) while continuing with their normal lives, may on occasion need advice and guidance to help with health concerns. We are able to offer support from health professionals and the opportunity of support from others in a similar position.

Sessions run every 2nd and 4th Friday morning (alternative weeks to Bereavement Support), 10am to 12pm at The New Library, Worksop
