Charity Golf Day - 18th May

The 13th Golf Tournament organised by Bassetlaw Hospice will take place on Friday 18th May and we are very grateful to Retford Golf Club for allowing us to use their beautiful and challenging course for this year’s charity tournament.

The competition will be the usual Stableford along with other challenges to include Nearest the Pin, Longest Drive etc.  The maximum handicaps are 24 for men and 30 for women.  The usual club dress codes will apply please visit the club’s website for further details.

The price will be £30 per person or £120 per team of 4 to include green fees and a first class two course meal for all players.  Tea and coffee and bacon sandwiches will be available to purchase on arrival.  The Prize Giving presentation will take place between 7 and 7.30pm.

As always this is an excellent way of not only having a marvellous day of golf, perhaps doing some team building of your own, and also supporting a local worthwhile charity which needs to raise over £250,000 per annum from the public and businesses in Bassetlaw in order to continue its provision of Hospice care for the terminally ill.

If you would like to take part in this year’s tournament, please contact helen@bassetlawhospice.org for an application form.

Places are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment.  If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me on 01777 710444.

Red Rock Partnership 'Strictly Learn to Dance' Training Begins

Training has begun in earnest for our 19 intrepid couples who have volunteered to learn to dance over a period of 10 weeks.  Their efforts will be rewarded on the 30th March in the Grand Final at Retford Town Hall. Huge thanks go to all our couples for giving up their time to learn to dance, Margaret Huntley for agreeing to teach them, Red Rock Partnership for sponsoring the event and North Notts College media students for agreeing to film the final show for us.  Updates on the couples progress will be available on our Facebook page.

Do you own a banger that’s merely gathering dust in the garage? Then you can do your bit for charity!

Giveacar is a UK based fundraising organisation that specialises in donating unwanted and scrap cars to charitable causes throughout the world, including Bassetlaw Hospice.

They provide a FREE service which is available throughout the UK, and can work with you hand-in-hand in the following ways:

  • They can arrange the collection of the vehicle;
  • Depending on its age and condition, they can either send it for environmentally safe disposal and recycling at an Authorised Treatment Facility, or to a salvage auction;

This means that a large portion of the proceeds are donated to a nominated charity of the vehicle owner’s choice!

Since Giveacar was set up in 2010, the organisation has already raised over £350,000 for over 250 charities!

To arrange collection of a car, visit Giveacar.co.uk or call 020 0011 1664, quoting BASSETLAW HOSPICE as your preferred charity.
